Hiveship
Hacun : A Boarding Action
(A report created in 1998) Eleven years ago, the Scythes aboard the Tenax engaged and destroyed a small vanguard Hiveship they had discovered loitering in the Hacun system, near the fifth planet. After a very one sided exchange of fire, the fleeing bioship was boarded to gather intelligence then place Nova charges to destroy the tyrannic vessel. Minimal resistance was encountered during this process and the entire mission lasted little over and hour before the devices were triggered and the vessel immolated. Long thought lost from the archives after a more intense boarding action some months later, during which the Tenax took more than superficial damage, the archive technomats discovered a surprise backup file.
Whilst the original report is still missing, much can be surmised from the plentiful imagery that augurs and pict-capture servo-skulls obtained alongside the boarding party. In the above imagery you can see an interception trajectory and the selection of an insertion point, which appears to be one of the larger wounds inflicted upon the hiveship and readily trailing atmosphere. Additionally, it appears the Tenax has taken up an observational position to avoid what appears to be a light battery of bio-weapons.
Based
on current boarding missions, it is highly likely this party was
led by Veteran Sargent Trano. The make up of the squad could have
been any one of the marines aboard the Tenax except Noviate Ardan
who has limited vacuum combat experience. About the periphery
of the
'wound' site only a few Warrior xenopmoprhs were encountered, with
the interior left to larger creatures performing a macro form of
healing process.
Large herds of xenomorphs consuming damaged tissue and others collecting
larger ruined matter whilst other lesser creatures sprayed salves
and chemicals about the raw flesh and damaged hiveship's armored
carapace (these latter specimens can be seen in the second picture
among the 'Herds').
There is no further engagement imagery, however an extensive collection of tyrannic speciemsn utilised in what appears to be a 'Healing' effort were recovered. Where possible it seems the party obtained several samples of the smaller creatures before returning to the Tenax and triggering the Nova charges. A few more examples of further specimens below completes the imagery within the date file;
